Europe is vulnerable to air attacks by both state and non-state actors. Russia has substantially increased its production of hypersonic missiles, missiles and drones, while European air defence capacities remain patchy with little improvement in coverage in recent years.

Jacques Lucien Jean Delors (French pronunciation: [ʒak lysjɛ̃ ʒɑ̃ dəlɔʁ]; 20 July 1925 – 27 December 2023) was a French politician who served as the eighth president of the European Commission from 1985 to 1995.[1] Delors played a key role in the creation of the single market, the euro and the modern European Union.
As president of the European Commission, Delors was the most visible and influential leader in European affairs. He implemented the policies that closely linked the member nations together and promoted the need for unity. He created a single market that made the free movement of persons, capital, goods, and services within the European Economic Community (EEC) possible. He also headed the so-called Delors Committee which proposed the monetary union to create the euro, a new single currency to replace individual national currencies. This was achieved by the signing of the Maastricht Treaty in 1992.[2]
Before becoming president of the European Commission, he was minister of Finance of France from 1981 to 1984, and a member of the European Parliament from 1979 to 1981.[3]
Having a workforce with the right skills contributes to sustainable growth, leads to innovation and improves companies' competitiveness. According to the Eurobarometer “SMEs and skills shortages”, skills shortages are the top-ranking problem for SMEs, even more so for 'large' SMEs.
Skills shortages represent a serious problem for the smallest to mid-sized companies in the EU, being identified as such by 53% of micro companies, 65% of small companies and 68% of medium-sized companies.
This Standard Eurobarometer survey conducted in June 2023 shows that EU citizens continue to back overwhelmingly the energy transition and to expect massive investment in renewables. They continue to widely approve measures taken by the EU to support Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. They also support stronger EU defence cooperation and increased defence spending. While inflation remains a major concern, perceptions of the economic situation and economic expectations are improving. A majority of Europeans believe that NextGenerationEU, the EU's €800 billion recovery plan, can be effective to respond to the current economic challenges. Support for the euro stays high.

Η Διακήρυξη Σουμάν, που παρουσιάστηκε από τον Γάλλο υπουργό Εξωτερικών Ρομπέρ Σουμάν στις 9 Μαΐου 1950, πρότεινε τη δημιουργία μιας Ευρωπαϊκής Κοινότητας Άνθρακα και Χάλυβα, τα μέλη της οποίας θα διαχειρίζονταν από κοινού την παραγωγή άνθρακα και χάλυβα.
Η ΕΚΑΧ, της οποίας ιδρυτικά μέλη ήταν η Γαλλία, η Δυτική Γερμανία, η Ιταλία, οι Κάτω Χώρες, το Βέλγιο και το Λουξεμβούργο, ήταν ο πρώτος από μια σειρά υπερεθνικών ευρωπαϊκών θεσμών που τελικά μετεξελίχθηκαν στη σημερινή "Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση".
