GERHARD SCHROEDER ON CRISIS AND GERMANY

By calling for more German money to bail out the troubled members of the euro area, coupled with tougher action on centralized economic governance, former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder neatly encapsulates the choices facing his successor, Angela Merkel.
In this exclusive interview with MarketWatch columnist David Marsh, Schröder also lays down a marker for the future leadership of the European Central Bank. He states baldly that the influential post should not pass to a German, suggesting instead a Luxembourger be chosen.
