''..David Cameron urged his party not to turn in on itself yesterday, as rifts over Europe threatened to overshadow the Conservatives’ conference.
The Tory leader struggled to hold the line against those pressing him to guarantee that an incoming Conservative administration would hold a referendum on the Lisbon treaty.
