Trump's Syria fiasco

  • Syria, more than any other global crisis, may well end up defining both Trump’s foreign policy approach and his legacy. In his first two years as president, Trump followed U.S. policy precedent, and the lead of his military commanders, backing a limited number of U.S. troops in Syria to help Kurdish allies fight ISIS, keep Assad’s regime at bay and maintain a deterrent presence to Iran, Russia and Turkey’s expansionist and zone of influence ambitions.
