.Race against the ageing clock

In Greek mythology, Eos (goddess of the dawn) fell in love with a mortal man called Tithonus and petitioned Zeus to make him immortal. Zeus granted her wish. Unfortunately, Eos forgot to ask for eternal youth alongside eternal life. Tithonus grew older and older but didn’t die. He had all the health issues associated with old age and so was unable to enjoy his never ending life.

Today, society is facing a similar situation.

People are living longer, but with longer life comes more health problems. This in turn puts tremendous strain on health services.
Fortunately, Professor Wolf Reik and his team from the Babraham Institute are working on new, cutting edge science that may be able improve the quality of life in old age.
