To encourage them to do so, the authorities have launched a wage subsidy scheme called Rebrain Greece that offers 500 of those deemed the brightest and best a monthly salary of €3,000 (before tax) if they return to Greece as part of the project. The labor ministry will cover 70 percent of the cost.

“This is a first effort by the Greek state, which seeks to create the conditions for a gradual return,” said Konstantinos Agrapidas, a senior figure in the labor ministry who is overseeing the program.

The scheme started last April as a way to reverse the brain drain and was deemed so important that not even a change of government after July's election could derail it.

''Το νησί των Κυθήρων γίνεται ο πρώτος πεζοπορικός προορισμός στην Ευρώπη που θα εφαρμόσει το Διεθνές Σύστημα Πιστοποίησης Μονοπατιών - Green Flag Trails, ένα σύστημα πιστοποίησης που εφαρμόζεται από το Παγκόσμιο Δίκτυο Μονοπατιών (World Trails Network) με στόχο τη βελτίωση της βιωσιμότητας και αναγνωρισιμότητας των μονοπατιών σε όλο τον κόσμο. Από τις 4 έως τις 11 Οκτωβρίου 2019, ειδικοί μονοπατιών από Ελλάδα, Πορτογαλία, Γαλλία, Ισπανία, Ιταλία, Ουγγαρία, Ρωσία, Αρμενία, Γεωργία, Λίβανο, Ιορδανία, Παλαιστίνη και Κένυα θα συναντηθούν στο νησί των Κυθήρων για να συμμετάσχουν στο Σεμινάριο Πιστοποίησης Μονοπατιών με Πράσινη Σημαία, το πρώτο του είδους του στην Ευρώπη. Το Σεμινάριο διοργανώνεται από το Παγκόσμιο Δίκτυο Μονοπατιών  με τη συνεργασία και την υποστήριξη του Κυθηραϊκού Ιδρύματος Πολιτισμού & Ανάπτυξης (ΚΙΠΑ). Κατά τη διάρκεια του σεμιναρίου, το επίσημο δίκτυο μονοπατιών των Κυθήρων, Kythera Trails, θα ελεγχθεί και εφόσον πληροί τα κριτήρια θα βραβευθεί με την πιστοποίηση Πράσινη Σημαία..''

Statement by High Representative/Vice-President Federica Mogherini on Turkey's new drilling operation northeast of Cyprus

Turkey’s declared intention to illegally conduct a new drilling operation northeast of Cyprus is of grave concern. This second planned drilling operation, two months after the start of the ongoing drilling operations west of Cyprus, is a further unacceptable escalation which violates the sovereignty of Cyprus.
We call on the Turkish authorities, once again, to refrain from such actions, act in a spirit of good neighbourliness and respect the sovereignty and sovereign rights of the Republic of Cyprus in accordance with international law.
Recalling the conclusions of the European Council on 20 June 2019, Turkey's continued actions have a serious negative impact across the range of EU-Turkey relations. As mandated by the European Council, the Commission and the EEAS are about to present options to the Council for appropriate measures. The European Union will respond appropriately and in full solidarity with Cyprus.

Παράγοντες που αφορούν την εχθρικότητα της Τουρκίας

''Καθώς βρισκόμαστε εν μέσω μια θερμής κατάστασης με την Τουρκία, είναι σημαντικό να έχουμε μια καλή εικόνα από μερικούς καταλυτικούς παράγοντες που μας φέρνουν σε πορεία σύγκρουσης. Με αυτό ως σκεπτικό παρακάτω παρατίθενται μερικά στοιχεία  που δείχνουν πώς και τι είναι εκείνο που οδηγεί την επιθετικότητα της Τουρκίας προς τη χώρα μας.

1.Η απόφαση της Γερμανίας και της Ολλανδίας να δημιουργήσουν σχέδιο που θα διαμορφώσει ένα πλωτό δίκτυο λεωφόρων logistics για εμπορεύματα μέσω των ποταμών (Δούναβης, Ρήνος, κ.α.).  το δίκτυο αυτό θα έχει ως σημείο αφετηρίας τον ΟΛΘ, στη Β. To avoid this, MEPs have approved a new regulation to limit deep-sea fishing in the North-East Atlantic. In it, they restrict fishing to specific zones. Here, for the blue ling. ''Κύθηρα του Σεπτέμβρη'' Σίσσυ Σκουλικάρη Σίσσυ Σκουλικάρη , για το CNN Greece

Η γέννηση της Αφροδίτης στα Κύθηρα, σύμφωνα με τη μυθολογία,υπήρξε το γεγονός εκείνο που καθόρισε και τη μετέπειτα πορεία του νησιού. Η Αφροδίτη γεννήθηκε στους αφρούς της θάλασσας των Κυθήρων και μεταφέρθηκε από τα κύματα στην Πάφο της Κύπρου, όπου επίσης λατρεύτηκε σαν θεά προστάτης .

Οι συνταξιδιώτες μου ήταν Κυθηραίοι κι έτσι κατά τη διάρκεια του ταξιδιού απ’ το Καστέλι προς τα Κύθηρα μ’ έμαθαν ένα σωρό πράγματα. Και θάματα!

Εν πλω είχα την πληροφορία ότι η Κυθέρεια Αφροδίτη είναι η προστάτης του πλατωνικού έρωτα, ενώ η Πάνδημος Αφροδίτη (της Κύπρου) είναι η προστάτης του σαρκικού.

Κι αυτό από μόνο του μ’ έκανε να αγαπήσω το νησί πριν καν το δω να διαγράφεται στον ορίζοντα. Συμβολικά!..
