What has the media ever done for science? 19 February 2016 by Dr Elizabeth Tunbridge

''On February 11th the Royal Society hosted its Scientists Meet the Media party. This annual event aims to encourage networking between Fellows, Research Fellows and journalists. In his opening address, the Royal Society’s new president, Sir Venki Ramakrishnan, pointed to the media’s key role in informing and inspiring the public about scientific issues. Few would doubt the benefits of a scientifically-engaged society, but can closer links between journalists and scientists be of more immediate benefit to individual researchers?..
