LEONARDO SOLAAS:''BOOK OF SAND''

The interface for this portfolio site for the Australian musician Daniel Blinkhorn came as a result of my investigation on autonomous agents, initiated with Biots. The main (and only!) screen consists of a swarm of colored translucent circles. When clicked, each of them unfolds a section of the site, and sub-sections, if any, appear as drifting circles too, now smaller.

This is an implementation of a particular set of relational rules for agents moving on a 2D space. The user can modify some of the parameters by turning the knobs on the right hand side. This changes the behavior of the swarm.

This is a work from several years and several versions of Flash ago, but I still consider it an interesting experiment in a non-classical, fluid interface that replaces the layout grid for some self-organized distribution of the space.
